Daily Puzzle #013 - Solution

Keep in mind that many puzzles have more than one correct solution.

Spells can ultimately be used in a different order and get the same result.

As long as your solution follows the spell rules, uses all of the given spells, and creates the correct ending word, your solution is correct even if it doesn’t match the printed solution exactly.

End word: Pot from cloud ran wildly (anagram of “cloud ran”) - CAULDRON

We have two Banish spells and five Possess spells, so let’s compare the words to see which letters we don’t need and which can be changed:

We can keep the C. The T can be changed into a U, but then we couldn’t use any of the other letters, so instead, we can use two Possess spells to change the W into a U (W to V and V to U). Then we can use two more Possess spells to change the T into an R (T to S and S to R). So, we can Banish the I and H. Once we use both Banish spells and the four Possess spells, we are left with URC.

This leaves four Summon spells, one Echo, and one Possess. Since the End word doesn’t have any duplicate letters, we know we will use the Echo spell with the Possess spell. We still need A, L, D, O, and N. So O and N will be the Echo/Possess combo.

Looking at our movement spells, we have two Swap spells, so we need to make sure we summon the needed letters in the correct order. 

Currently, with URC, we can see that the U and C are in each other’s positions, so they will be swapped. The R is currently in the second position where the A should be, and it will need to be in the sixth position, so we should summon the A to the sixth position to create the other swap. Since the word ends with ON, we can summon the O last. 

So, we summon the L to the fourth position (URCL), then the D (URCLD), then the A (URCLDA) and finally an O (URCLDAO).

Now we can Echo the O (URCLDAOO), change the second O to N (URCLDAON), then swap the U and C (CRULDAON), and swap the R and A (CAULDRON).
