Daily Puzzle #029 - Solution

Keep in mind that many puzzles have more than one correct solution.

Spells can ultimately be used in a different order and get the same result.

As long as your solution follows the spell rules, uses all of the given spells, and creates the correct ending word, your solution is correct even if it doesn’t match the printed solution exactly.

End word: Smith’s workplace when you FORGET and lose time (T) - FORGE

In this puzzle, we have three Banish spells, so we will use two letters from ANVIL for our End word. ANVIL and FORGE don’t have any common letters, so let’s look at what we can change with our Possess spells.

If we Banish the A, V, and L, we are left with NI. Then we can use one Possess spell to change the N to O (OI), and two Possess spells to change the I to G (OH, then OG). 

This means we still need an F, an R, and an E, and our remaining letter spells are one Echo, one Possess, and two Summon.

Since FORGE doesn’t have any double letters, we know we will use the Echo spell with a Possess spell. This will work with the F/E.

First, let’s Summon the R (OGR), then we can Summon the F (OGRF).

Then we can Echo the F (OGRFF). We should use our last Possess spell to change one F into an E. To figure out which one, we should look at our movement spells: One Swap and one Mirror. Since there is an F at the end, we can use Mirror on the entire word, so let’s use our last Possess spell on the first F and make it an E (OGREF).

Now we can use our Swap spell on the O and E to get EGROF.

Finally, use the MIrror spell to reverse the entire word and get FORGE.
